Last E/S Memo

January 25, 2012

Dear Parents,

Please note the following information:

The Ned Show: As mentioned in previous news letters, the Ned show will be coming tomorrow, Wednesday, January 25, 2011. The Ned Show, is an active, engaging show that promotes the following message:
N = Never Give Up
E = Encourage Others
D = Do your best
As part of this show, the students will be able to purchase yo-yos for one week following the show. After approximately three weeks, the students will be able to participate in a yo-yo contest at the school.

Dance Instruction: In order to meet the needs of the PE curriculum, this year we are adding a dance component to the PE classes. We will be contracting the service of ACAC Education Canada and they will be providing us with a certified dance instructor who is also a teacher. He will teach the boys five lessons in a two-week period. The cost of this program will be $15 per child. The type of dance is Hip Hop and these lessons will begin Monday, February 20, 2012, and will conclude on Friday, March 2, 2012. I am sure that the boys will enjoy these lessons.

Tennis Lessons: Mr. Mackin, the tennis coach will be back for more lessons this year. This time of year is a real favourite for the boys. Mr. Mackin will be arriving at school from April 16, 2012, to April 27, 2012, and each class will receive 6 tennis lessons. The cost of this program will be $14 per child.

*In order to facilitate the collection of funds, please make one cheque payable to the Vancouver College for $29 dollars. This will cover the cost of the Tennis and Dance Lessons. Please send this money to the school by Friday, February 3, 2012.

Major Flaps: Major Flaps will be arriving at the school on Monday, February 20, 2012, in order to give an entertaining show with a anti-bullying message. He is internationally known and comes to the school with great excitement. We are looking forward to this performance.

Catholic Educators’ Conference: The Catholic Educators’ Conference will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2012, and Friday, February 17, 2012. There will be no school on these days as the teachers will be involved in the conference.

Lost and Found: There are a number of items in the lost and found. Please check the baskets outside my office and ensure that your son has his shoes, coat, mitts, hats, and lunch bag. 

Sincerely,

Barbara Seppelt
