Vancouver College started its Field Lacrosse program in 2003 with 25 boys in Grades 9 – 12. Since 2004, the program has expanded to include both a Junior (Grades 7 – 10) and Senior (Grades 11-12) teams. The season of play is from November to March and ends with the Provincial Championships in the first week of March. Our volunteer coaching staff comes from alumni, parents, and current players. The sport not only appeals to experienced players but also to novice players who are attracted to trying a new sport. Fundamentally, the game is safe, easy to learn, and is one of the fastest growing sports in Canada and the US. In playing Lacrosse, students have the opportunity to excel and play with local, national, and international postsecondary institutions, possibly through athletic scholarships. 

At Vancouver College, members of the Lacrosse teams practice Monday to Thursday with one or two league games a week. Practices are on O’Hagan Field from 3:20 – 5:00 pm. Players are required to supply their own equipment which includes a helmet, pads, gloves, and stick.

2011-12 Season

Congratulations to our Junior and Senior Lacrosse teams. This year, over 40 boys participated in our 9th season of Lacrosse at Vancouver College. The majority of the players were rookies who picked up the game very quickly. Both teams played over 15 games during league play which involved teams from North and South Delta. The season ended with provincial championships in Coquitlam the first week of March. The teams worked hard and played to the best of their abilities which resulted in very exciting and close games.

We are proud of the boys and wish to thank the Administrators and volunteer coaching staff, led by parent, Carlo Nichini, Dean Stewart, and alumni Dylan Ang and Will and Matt Esaw. We’re looking forward to our 10th season next winter.
