Schedule of Graduation Activities Academic Year 2011 - 2012

October 1 - 2	Graduation Full Photos at Artona Studio (See note below)
October 12	Grads and Dads Dinner at Italian Cultural Centre
March 9	Grade 12 Pre-Grad Boat Cruise (Pre-Grad Form)
April 4	Meeting for parents of the Class of 2012 (see meeting Minutes)
April 17-18	Grad Dinner Dance and After Grad Ticket sale (3 - 4 pm Alumni Room). Please complete Grad Dinner Dance Ticket Order Form and After Grad Ticket Order Form (for Guest only)
May 9	Senior School Mother’s Day Mass at 11:30 in Alumni Gym. Grade 12 students are encouraged to take their mothers out for lunch (no F block for grade 12 students).  All other senior school students are expected to be at school for lunch and for last block (F block).
May 18	Graduation Dinner Dance - Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (Dress Code - Formal). No classes for Grade 12 students
June 13	Graduation Liturgy (Alumni Gymnasium). This event is mandatory for all grade 12 students.  Boys are required to be at school at 10:00 and meet in the Dave Hardy Gym. Dress in shirt tie and dress pants. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Reception for Grads and Parents follows.
June 27	Commencement Exercises

The above listed Grad events are those sponsored by Vancouver College. However, please note there may be other non-VC sponsored "Grad" or "Pre-Grad" activities organized by the students and parents.

Graduation Photo Session

Grad photos will take place on Sat. Oct. 1 and Sun. Oct. 2, 2011 at Artona Studios located at 353 West 7th Avenue, Vancouver (604-872-7272). Grade 12s need to book their appointment online at www.artonagroup.com. Vancouver College rents black tuxedos for Grad photos and will also provide the traditional purple tie. A variety of sizes of pants, jackets, and shirts are rented for that weekend only.The tuxedos will only be at Artona Studios for that weekend; therefore, it is very important that you book an appointment and show up on time. Please read the additional important information about your photo sitting on the Artona website so that you are prepared for your Grad photos.

Deposit: $60.00 (applicable to orders when placed)
Reminder: Bring dress shoes to wear with tuxedo and additionally any other outfits that you wish to be photographed in.

Anyone unable to attend the photo sessions on Oct. 1/2 must make alternative arrangements with Artona. It is the responsibility of the student/parent to ensure that the Vancouver College Yearbook Team receives a digital copy of that alternative photo. Artona will NOT pass along those photos to VC and the Yearbook Team will not be aware of any alternative arrangements.

Grads and Dads Dinner

Traditionally the Grade 12 students and their fathers or invited guest celebrate the beginning of the grad year with the Grads and Dads Dinner. This year the dinner will be held on Wednesday, October 12th at the Italian Cultural Centre (3075 Slocan Street, Vancouver). Admission for Grad and one guest is covered by the Grad Levy paid at registration. All attendees are asked to arrive by 6 pm and a photographer will be available for photos. Dress is semi formal (winter dress code or more formal).

Grad Levy Fee

There is a Grad Levy fee of $375 which covers:

• Admission for two to the Grads and Dads Dinner on October 12, 2011
• Tuxedo rental for the Grad photo sitting on October 1-2, 2011
• A gift for the school from the Class of 2012
• A four-year membership in the Vancouver College Alumni Association commencing 2012
• Other sundry expenses for the June Commencement exercises
• Admission for one to the Aftergrad on May 18/19

Graduation Email List

Your family email address will be automatically included in an email list so we can regularly send you notices and reminders of interest to Grade 12 students and parents. We ask that you notify us of any change to your email address so we can update our database accordingly.

Baby Photos of Grads 2012

During the Graduation Dinner Dance, a group of Grade 12 students present a slide show.  In preparation for this, we will be asking all students to submit a picture of them as a baby/child.  The pictures will be returned to you. Please have your son bring the photo to Mrs. Cotterall.
