Traffic Guidelines: Student Drop Off and Pick Up

To ensure the safety of our students, we ask parents to adhere to Traffic Guidelines. Please follow the designated drop off and pick up zones as follows:

Elementary - 38th Avenue
Middle School – Cartier Street;
Senior School – Hudson Street.

Families with 2 or more children in multiple grades should drop off only in one zone.

The more common violations are as follows:

• Traffic routes rules not being followed (dropping off on the east side of Hudson rather than the west side);
  Vehicles taking too long at drop off area because bags have to be unloaded from the trunks (suggest bags be on their laps or beside them);
• Vehicles dropping off in the staff parking area, residential, and permit parking zones;
• Drivers ignoring instructions of Parking & Traffic Patrol attendants;
• Not following traffic signs [4-way stop signals or speed limit signs (max. 30kph)];
• Parents not safely crossing streets with Elementary children.
• Enforcement of Traffic & Parking Rules is under our Parking & Traffic Patrol Team composed of dedicated parent volunteers.

Please follow Parking Patrol instructions. The Parking Patrol Team will be empowered to give warnings to drivers not obeying the rules. Drivers with rule infractions will have their plate numbers noted. Once they reach three violations, their car plates will be reported to the police for issuance of traffic tickets. Please give the Parent Parking Patrol Team your full support as they are keeping our children safe.

Parking

The Fire Department advises that it is dangerous to stop or park on the south side of 38th Avenue to drop off or pick up students, as this hinders the exiting of vehicles from the fire station. Parents are asked to use Hudson or Cartier Streets instead. There are to be NO drop offs or pick-ups in either of the school parking lots (Cartier or Hudson).

When arriving at the school, parents should attempt to utilize on-street parking on both Hudson and Cartier Street and avoid West 38th, 39th, and 40th Avenue. We would appreciate your cooperation as we value our relationship with our neighbours.
