Elementary1

The Elementary School at Vancouver College fosters a love of learning for the students. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 are introduced to a variety of teaching styles from grade to grade, while their lessons are still rooted in strong traditional teaching values.  The boys are given clear expectations for behaviour and for work expectations.

Student Services

The Department of Student Services provides a variety of services and resources to the Elementary, Middle, and Senior Schools. These include personal counselling, post-secondary guidance and counselling, academic planning and counselling, learning assistance, and special education. The Department is located in several offices and spaces on the campus including the Student Services Centre and the Learning Centre in Blessed Edmund Rice Hall, and the Elementary School Learning Centre in Lannon Hall.

Vancouver College students from all age groups participate in a variety of stimulating athletic, religious, physical, artistic, social, cultural, and recreational pursuits, designed to add breadth and depth to the student's own interests and experiences. Faith and Learning

Vancouver College is a Catholic School.  All students are expected to fully participate in all aspects of our Religion Program. The Catholic tradition forms the basis for the life and work of the school.  A student is expected to pass Religion at each grade level in order to continue into each subsequent grade and to graduate from Vancouver College and participate in the Graduation Ceremonies. Creating a Christian community is the task of faculty, students and parents alike; all are encouraged to enter fully into the spiritual life of our school.

Every year well over 100 students hit the hardwood to represent Vancouver College in true Fighting Irish form. Basketball players ranging from Grades 5 to 12, dedicate themselves to becoming fierce competitors.Teams in Grades 5 - 7 participate in the CISVA league and join tournaents, while the older teams compete against all schools and embark on winning their respective Independent League. Vancouver College takes pride in instilling hard work, commitment, and "no quit" attitude in its players.

Tuition and Financial Assistance

Vancouver College is committed to providing accessible Catholic-based education to all families as envisioned by our founder, Blessed Edmund Rice. The Blessed Edmund Rice Bursary Program provides tuition assistance to those families with demonstrated need for financial assistance based on a formal bursary application and review process. Families with more than one son at Vancouver College may request a Family Discount.

The Middle School (Grade 7-9), takes into consideration that the jump from Elementary to High School is the biggest adjustment a young boy must make during his High School years.With this in mind, Middle School staff work very hard at nurturing and caring for your sons.  By working in partnership with the parents, it is our hope that we can assist your sons in making their journey through adolescence and Middle School a smoother one.

The Senior School at Vancouver College consists of approximately 480 young men in grades 10-12. As students enter Senior School, the most noticeable difference is the increased focus on independence and responsibility. Upon graduation each student is expected to "leave here a better man."

Alumni Homecoming Game -  Saturday, September 30th  at 1:30 on O’Hagan Field, defending BC Champions, Fighting Irish will battle last season’s semi-final opponent, the Mouat Hawks, coached by VC alum and Hall of Honour Inductee, Denis Kelly.

Athletics

The athletic program at Vancouver College is very strong throughout the school, nurturing both the elite athlete and enthusiastic participant through extramural sports. We offer a broad range of sports and have earned a reputation for excellence in football, basketball, track and field, and rowing as well as placed high in badminton, tennis, and wrestling competitions.

Our coaches work hard to create an environment that supports and encourages high achievement in athletics and academic work within our Catholic faith community. The Athletic Department encourages students to participate in Vancouver College's various sports offerings. We strive to provide our student athletes with the resources necessary to compete to the full extent of their ability and to enjoy each aspect of their experience.

Parents Association

The Parent Participation Program was developed to offer families unique opportunities to become more actively involved in their son's education while building the Vancouver College community. Parents are required to volunteer throughout the year at many of the events organized by the association such as the Finnegan Ball, the Mothers' Christmas Party, and Mayfair.
