Elementary1

The Elementary School at Vancouver College fosters a love of learning for the students. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 are introduced to a variety of teaching styles from grade to grade, while their lessons are still rooted in strong traditional teaching values.  The boys are given clear expectations for behaviour and for work expectations.

Student Council

The Vancouver College Student Council is the elected voice of the student body. It provides the students with an opportunity to experience democratic processes and a means to present their ideas and concerns to the school's Administration. The Council, led by teacher moderator, Br. Peter O'Loughlin, is also responsible for the funding of non-athletic extracurricular clubs and activities and organizes several social events throughout the school year.

Graduation Activities

Graduation is an important event that symbolizes the culmination of one phase of life and the beginning of another. At Vancouver College, the Grade 12 year is full of activities that help prepare our students for this momentous occasion including Grads and Dads (October), Graduation Dinner Dance (May), and Commencement Excercises (June). The goal of Vancouver College's Learning Centre is to provide a supportive, individualized learning environment for students with unique learning styles. Library

The Vancouver College Senior Library website is a clearing house of information used to research efficiently. Our library catalogue is the heart of this site, and allows students and staff to explore the books and audio-visual resources available to them at VC. The elementary and senior library catalogues are integrated online, allowing users to access approximately 25,000 resources. This site provides links to superb online encyclopedias, newspapers, and other news sources. Links to public and university libraries are also imbedded in the VC library site, as are sites related to provincial exams, the government in general, and of course sites on how to research effectively.

The Middle School (Grade 7-9), takes into consideration that the jump from Elementary to High School is the biggest adjustment a young boy must make during his High School years.With this in mind, Middle School staff work very hard at nurturing and caring for your sons.  By working in partnership with the parents, it is our hope that we can assist your sons in making their journey through adolescence and Middle School a smoother one.

Senior School

Sciencelab

The Senior School at Vancouver College, led by Assistant Principal, Mary-Joy Derouin, consists of approximately 480 young men in grades 10-12. As students enter Senior School, the most noticeable difference is the increased focus on independence and responsibility. Academically, each Senior School student will study a minimum of eight courses each year, providing him with the opportunity to meet and exceed Ministry of Education graduation requirements as well as university admission requirements.

Student Services

The Department of Student Services provides a variety of services and resources to the Elementary, Middle, and Senior Schools. These include personal counselling, post-secondary guidance and counselling, academic planning and counselling, learning assistance, and special education. The Department is located in several offices and spaces on the campus including the Student Services Centre and the Learning Centre in Blessed Edmund Rice Hall, and the Elementary School Learning Centre in Lannon Hall.

Campus Ministry
