Finnegan Ball

To all Parents, Alumni & Friends of Vancouver College:

The 33rd Annual Finnegan Ball was held on Saturday November 5th at the beautiful Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Once again, many thanks to our Vancouver College staff, the parents and friends of the school. We had a fabulous event. With a fantastic selection of live and silent auction items, our theme of "Finnegan Goes Tech" was a huge interactive success! We had a record breaking number of guests attend the gala and we raised an amazing record breaking $175,000 for our school.

The evening was kicked off with an exciting performance from the boys' troupe of the Vancouver Tap Dance Society. Two of our VC boys, Rhys Arrieta and Marcangelo Zanatta, performed with this talented group to make this event more special. These boys have been dancing together for over 6 years and have won the provincial championships three consecutive years. Congratulations and thank you boys.

Mr. Taggart gave an exceptional demonstration outlining the educational benefits and opportunities the students and staff will experience utilizing SMART Boards in the classroom. This presentation enlightened those of us that did not fully understand the perception of how SMART Boards will change the classroom learning experience. The SMART boards will open the vast benefits of interactive educational possibilities for our boys. Many thanks to Mr. Taggart for his fun and interactive presentation.

The fun continued as our Mr. Kozikowski was the emcee for the evening once again. Thank you Mr. Koz for giving up your evening for us and for keeping the events of the night flowing!

Special congratulations to our Finnegan Treasure winners. Congratulations to Mrs. McFarlane for winning the beautiful diamond and pearl pendant kindly donated by the Rener Family and Crest Jewellers.

It was a pleasure to work the many talented team members on Finnegan Ball this year. Each year the event comes with new challenges but it is the solutions and feeling of community effort which makes the experience so rewarding. A special thank you to the Finnegan Ball committee, volunteers and the Lettermen who helped make the event run so smoothly.
