VC Parents Association

Engaged parents for the betterment of our school

VCPA

Dear VC Parents:

On behalf of the Vancouver College Parents Association team (VCPA), I want to welcome all the Vancouver College (VC) parents and invite them to participate in building the VC community and be part in creating a good environment for our kids at school.

Vancouver College is not only one of the top schools in BC, it is a community of happy kids and hard working caring parents. The VCPA plays a key role in building this community and contributes to the betterment of the school. Last year, we organized many successful events and raised funds to be used to buy equipment, sponsor events, school teams, bursaries and other.

The VCPA official role is to:

· encourage participation (PPP) in school activities by the families of all students;
· facilitate cooperation and dialogue within the school community;
· raise funds for school needs as they arise;
· promote and assist with charitable activities outside of the school by which students can put Catholic faith into action.

The VCPA organize three major fund raising events: the Finnegan Ball; the Mother Christmas Tea and Mayfair. This year Finnegan Ball theme is: Finnegan goes Tech!. The ball will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Last year the ball succeeded in raising over $150,000 that include a Bus for the school. This year our goal is to upgrade the level of educational and interactive technology used in our classrooms. We encourage you to attend this great event and help us achieve our goal.

The Mother Christmas Tea (MCT) will be help in the Brothers' house on December 1st, 2011. Mother’s Christmas Tea is a traditional event at Vancouver College for all the women in our Community. It is a good venue for the VC mothers to meet and purchase their Christmas gifts.

M ayfair is a huge spring fair with Car Raffle that draws thousands of attendees every year. It’s the largest parents’ event and our largest fundraiser. Mayfair offers something for everyone, including games and a Midway for the kids, all types of shopping, food from every corner of the world, non-stop entertainment. Mayfair showcases some of the best that we as parents bring to Vancouver College. This year's Mayfair is on Saturday May 12, 2011.

Expect to receive from us information and news about our activities in a weekly message (eNews) that will be sent by email to you every Thursday. We also have a parents association website linked to the school website. We are still working on updating it and making it current.
