Vancouver College

Your school for life

About Us

Established in 1922, Vancouver College is the only all boys, independent Catholic school in British Columbia. Vancouver College is served by the Congregation of Christian Brothers and held in trust and operated by Vancouver College Limited. As a faith and learning community, our mission is to educate boys and young men from diverse backgrounds in the tradition of Blessed Edmund Rice. At the core of Vancouver College is a community of Christian Brothers and dedicated lay educators motivated by a spirit of faith and zeal.

Through our commitment to the Essential Elements of Catholic Education at Vancouver College, we prepare our students for a life dedicated to achievement, leadership, and service to the church and community.

Essential Elements

Blessed Edmund Rice was given the grace to respond to the call of Jesus by identifying with Christ in the poor. His example evoked a deep awareness of God’s loving presence in all with whom he came in contact. He also awakened within them a consciousness of their dignity as children of God. He invited his followers to share the Gospel insight to reach out to the needy, especially the materially poor.

The life of Blessed Edmund Rice – businessman, husband, father, widower, religious brother, teacher, and founder – challenges all involved in Christian Brother Education to live and teach Gospel values. His vision inspires the Essential Elements of an Edmund Rice Christian Brother Education at Vancouver College. Today, the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers North America and their colleagues at Vancouver College reaffirm the essential characteristics of an Edmund Rice Christian Brother Education.

Advancement Office

The mandate of the Office of Advancement, under Vancouver College Limited (VCL), is to help meet the school’s current and future financial needs. Specifically, it is responsible for coordinating the development of funding priorities, external and internal communications, and maintaining the school’s relationships with current parents, alumni parents, alumni, the Catholic and corporate community. Like all independent schools across North America, Vancouver College relies on financial support over and above tuition fees to maintain its high level of education and to improve and develop campus facilities.

Giving to VC

Vancouver College continues to grow and succeed as a reputable educational institution, thanks to the generous gifts and thousands of volunteer hours donated by parents, alumni, students, friends, corporations, and foundations. As an independent school, we rely on donations from our community at large. As past, present, and future beneficiaries, we have a shared responsibility to support and advance our school. Donate Online

VCPA

Vancouver College is one of the top schools in the province, largely because of the dedication of its faculty and staff and also because of the commitment and hard work of caring parents.  The VCPA plays a key role in building our community and contributes to the betterment of the school.  Last year, we organized many successful events and raised funds used to buy equipment, sponsor events, school teams, and fund bursaries. We encourage all Vancouver College parents, whether returning or new to the school, to fully participate in building our faith and learning community and create a good environment for our sons. The VCPA’s primary role is to: encourage participation (PPP) in school activities by all VC families;  facilitate cooperation and dialogue within the school community; raise funds for “special projects” as determined by the school’s administration (see list of last year’s projects and activities); and promote and assist with charitable activities outside of the school in order for students to put their Catholic faith into action. The VCPA organizes three major fund raising events: Finnegan Ball, Mothers' Christmas Tea, and Mayfair.
