(Gr. 4 - 7) This 2-week intensive camp is based on musical theatre performance. Students will be immersed in acting techniques, voice and choral work, movement and choreography, as well as technical theatre. Student will learn how to audition and will be coached on vocal techniques and character development. Music from several popular musicals will be covered. It is recommended that students have some knowledge of signing, acting or dancing. Students will perform a one act of a musical for their final performance at the end of the two-week camp in Vancouver College’s performing arts theatre. (Ms. N. Debate and Public Speaking (SKU# 007-B |
(Gr. 7 - 10) Learn effective communication skills through the avenues of debate and public speaking. Topics covered include: the process and protocols of debating; how to construct an interesting and effective speech; keeping thoughts and arguments organized; standing and delivering speeches with confidence; and effective rebuttal techniques. Head Start: Transitioning to Middle School (SKU# 008) |
This camp for incoming Vancouver College Grade 7 and 8 students is designed to help make the transition to Middle School at VC smoother. Mornings will give students a head start academically by exposing them to some of the topics covered in English 8 and Math 8. Students will be introduced to the binder system, used virtually by all students at VC. Afternoons are spent doing a variety of recreational activities allowing participants to interact with and get to know each other. Irish Football (SKU# 009) |
(Gr. 7 - 9) Campers will receive individualized instruction in the development of football fundamentals with particular emphasis on throwing, catching, kicking, and punting. This is a non-contact camp requiring no equipment and will be an excellent base for those participants wishing to go on and play high school football. In addition, the Seattle Seahawks will be running a one-day camp as part of the NFL's play 60 tour in conjunction with the Irish Football camp. HIgh Performance Training Camp (SKU# 013) |
(Gr. 9+ M/W/F only) This co‐ed camp is aimed at the high school athlete who is looking to develop the functional skills necessary for high‐level athletic performance. Athletes will follow a 4-week training program where they will receive instruction on and perform proper sprint and agility mechanics; vertical jump mechanics, power development and plyometric exercises; and strength training, including Olympic lifting techniques. Participants also receive instruction on proper nutritional practices, recovery and regeneration techniques, injury prevention and management, flexibility protocols and postural and core strengthening.
