As an independent school, we have three main sources of funding to meet our financial obligations: tuition fees, government grant, and our annual giving campaign. While the tuition fees and government grant cover our basic operating costs, the funds raised through our annual giving campaign are essential to meet the capital needs of our school and to provide enhanced resources, programs and facilities which are the hallmarks of excellence at Vancouver College. We rely on donations from our community at large and as past, present, and future beneficiaries, we have a shared responsibility to support and advance our school. We ask families to make a 100% tax deductible contribution, in accordance with each family’s means and resources, towards the enhancement of our school facilities and programs.

 

2011-12 Building on Our Strengths Annual Fund appeal details our fundraising goals for this school year. Our priorities are:

1. Attaining financial well-being and sustainability by eliminating our debt and associated level of required funding

 

The school currently has a debt load of approximately $14.7 million. Our goal is to eliminate this debt by half in five years so that the school can remain on a solid financial footing over the long term regardless of fluctuations in interest rates and so that monies saved on debt servicing can be reinvested in our school and our students.

2. Investing in our students’ education through a strong bursary program

 

Giving to the Bursary Fund provides support to families needing tuition financial assistance. In doing so, you help us stay true to the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice by ensuring that no boy is turned away due to financial reasons. The unique diversity found at Vancouver College creates unity amongst students and promotes openness and understanding.

3. Enhancement of our existing buildings and facilities and addressing restoration needs

 

Some of our older buildings need to be refurbished and upgraded. Supporting the Building and Facilities Fund ensures that students can continue to learn in a dynamic and safe environment. Maintaining our facilities to meet current energy efficient standards and enhancing campus landscaping is our way of reducing our carbon footprint.

The success of our annual campaign depends on the participation of all our families.  We ask all famiiles to consider making a financial contribution to Vancouver College in accordance with your means.

Every gift to Vancouver College, regardless of size, is greatly appreciated and collectively makes a significant difference to our students.
