Graduation Photos

Location: Artona Studios

Register Online @ www.artonagroup.ca

Deposit: $60 (applicable to orders when placed)

Vancouver College rents black tuxedos for Grad photos and will also provide the traditional purple tie. A variety of sizes of pants, jackets, and shirts are rented for that weekend only. The tuxedos will only be at Artona Studios for that weekend; therefore, it is very important that you book an appointment and show up on time. Reminder to bring dress shoes to wear with the tuxedo and additionally any other outfits that you wish to be photographed in.

Anyone unable to attend the photo sessions must make alternative arrangements with Artona. It is the responsibility of the student/parent to ensure that the Vancouver College Yearbook Team receives a digital copy of that alternative photo. Artona will NOT pass along those photos to VC and the Yearbook Team will not be aware of any alternative arrangements.

Grads & Dads

Location: Italian Cultural Center

Time: 6pm – 9pm

Cost: Incorporated in the Grad Levy (already paid)

Attire: Suit

This event is an opportunity for grads to share a meal with their fathers (father-figures). Speeches will be presented by an alumni, a father and a graduate.

Grad Write-Up & Baby Photo

Submit to: English Teacher

Students are to submit a write-up for the yearbook. The write-up should not exceed 150 words. A baby photo for our grad video should be submitted at the same time. Students that do not submit a write-up by the deadline will receive a bible quote in its place.

Grad Sweaters

Cost: Incorporated in the Grad Levy (already paid)

These sweaters are completely organized by the Student Grad Committee. Students are sized up in early September and the order is placed shortly after.

VC / LFA Winter Formal

Location: Van Dusen Gardens – Floral Room

Time: 6:30pm – 10:30pm

Cost: $30

Attire: Semi-Formal

The event is jointly organized by the Student Grad Committees of VC and LFA.This event is only open to VC and LFA Grade 12 students. It is an opportunity to socialize and dance. There are only 75 tickets available to VC grads. Students may not enter the event without a completed waiver form.

Grad Celebration Tickets Sales

Location: Alumni Room

Time: 3:15pm – 4:15pm

Cost: $110 per ticket

These three days are the only three days to purchase tickets for the Grad Celebration event. Table Order Forms should be submitted at the time of purchase. There should only be one order form per table (students and parents need to coordinate who is sitting at their table). Parents are encouraged to purchase the tickets in person; however, if the grad will be purchasing the tickets, he should drop off the money to Mr. Weaver in the morning for safe keeping. Sorry, credit cards will not be accepted.

Mother’s Day Mass

Location: Alumni Gym

Time: 11:30am – 1pm

No RSVP required

Grads and their mothers (mother-figures) are invited to celebrate mass together. Following mass, grads are encouraged to take their mothers out for lunch. Grads are dismissed for the remainder of the school day.

May 10

Grad Transitions Interview

Location: Advisory Teacher’s Classroom

Time: 8:30am – 9:30am

Grads will be interviewed by their advisory teacher about their future plans and lifestyle choices. This interview is mandatory and is a requirement BC Ministry of Education Graduation Program. It is worth 4 graduation credits.

Valedictorian Application

Grads are encouraged to apply for Valedictorian. Students are asked to submit a written 5-minute speech to Mr. Weaver prior to the May 17th deadline. Following this, students will be scheduled to present their speech to a panel of teachers and judged according to the criteria provided below.

Grad Celebration

Location: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

Time: 6pm – 10pm: Dinner & Dance

10pm – 1am: Dance & Activities (Parents optional)

Cost: $110 per ticket (tickets sold on April 3, 4, 5,)

Attire: Suit

This is a celebration of the accomplishments of the grads and their families. The evening will entail speeches, dinner, dancing and activities. The activities will be completely organized by the Student Grad Committee.

Post-Secondary Plans & Scholarships

Grads are asked to submit what their post-secondary plans are and what scholarships they have qualified for prior to May 27th. This information will be used at the graduation ceremonies and future school profiles. If a grad is receiving a scholarship, evidence of this must be provided to Ms. Beck via email or paper copy.

School Final Exams

Location: Alumni Gym or Senior Library

Time: 8:30am – 10:30am or 12:30pm – 2:30pm

Grads are encouraged to start studying for school final exams early. Though post-secondary institutions offer conditional acceptances, they may withdraw their acceptance if there is a significant drop in grades.

June 23

English Provincial Exam

Location: Alumni Gym or Senior Library

Time: 9am – 12pm

This is the last provincial exam that grads must complete for the BC Ministry of Education Graduation Program. Significant grade decreases as a result of this exam will jeopardize post-secondary admissions. Grads are encouraged to start studying for this exam well in advance.

Graduation Rehearsal

Location: O'Hagan Field

Time: Lunch provided @ 12 noon; Rehearsal begins @ 1 pm

Attendance: Mandatory

Attire: Casual

All Grads are required to attend this rehearsal in order to prepare for the three graduation events the following day.

Graduation Liturgy

Location: O'Hagan Field

Attire: Suit

The Grad Liturgy is our final opportunity to gather and pray as a spiritual community with the grad class. Grads are asked to be present at least thirty minutes early for rehearsal.

Graduation Brunch

Location: Christian Brothers Gym

Time: 11 am

Attendance: Mandatory (for Grads only)

Attire: Suit

This event gathers grads and teachers one last time to share a meal together and reminisce of the great experiences they have had together at Vancouver College. Speeches from staff and grads highlight the event. Following the brunch, grads are assembled to acquire their gowns.

June 28Graduation Ceremonies

Location: O’Hagan Field

Time: 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Attendance: Mandatory, No RSVP required

Attire: Suit

This event is the final formalgathering of all grads at Vancouver College. The ceremony entails speeches and is highlighted by the distribution of diplomas to our graduates. Everyone is welcome to attend a reception following the ceremony in the courtyard hosted by the Grade 11 parents organized by the VCPA. Gates will open to the public at 1:00pm.
