Patrick Metcalfe (VC'16)

The Vancouver Whitecaps FC have signed Development Squad central midfielder and Whitecaps FC BMO Academy System product Patrick Metcalfe to an MLS Homegrown contract

Rysen John (VC'16)

Simon Fraser Football Receiver Rysen John is suiting up on Sunday, January 26, 2020, in the annual Hula Bowl, an iconic, post-season college football all-star game held in Hawaii. 

Finbarr O'Reilly (VC'89)

Congratulations to Finbarr O'Reilly, who has been chosen by the Nobel Peace Center as the 2019 Peace Prize photographer. He will be traveling to Ethiopia to meet the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and to create a portrait of him and the country he is leading. 

Aaron Lattimer (VC'13)

Aaron Lattimer, a rower for the Canadian National Team with his sights set on the 2020 Olympics, will be one of the athletes honoured at the Delta Sports Hall of Fame gala

VC Lacrosse at SFU

Vancouver College was well represented at the 16th annual SFU Lacrosse Alumni Game, with three former Irish in attendance! L to R: Jon Bailey (VC'12) currently working as an RMT, Mark Yingling (VC'18) SFU Sophmore studying Criminology, & Matt Esaw (VC'05) VC Senior School Teacher.

Lawrence "Sonny" Homer (VC'55)

Lawrence attended Vancouver College for his Grade 12 year, and is known as a BC Lions great, helping the team win their first-ever Grey Cup championship in 1964. He ended his career as one of the most prolific receivers in team history, earning a spot on the BC Lions Wall of Fame in 2003. He will be posthumously  inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame on October 5, 2019. 

Callum MacBeth (VC'17)

Shortly after graduating from Vancouver College, Callum joined an army reserve unit based out of New Westminster, and in late September, 2019 was promoted to the rank of Corporal in the Canadian Armed Forces! Teacher Matt Esaw (VC'05) is a member of the same unit and on the same night was awarded the Canadian Forces Declaration Medal (CD) for12+ years of Military service. 

Paul Giroday (VC'69)

An outstanding two-way player at Vancouver College from 1967 to 1968, Giroday attended the University of California at Berkeley where he was a two-sport athlete in football and boxing. In fact, he was an NCAA boxing champion! Later, he went on to play for the B.C. Lions as a linebacker and a special teams player from 1975 to 1978. He will be inducted into the BC Football Hall of Fame on October 5, 2019. 

Rysen John (VC'16)

Rysen started his Senior Season with SFU's Clan with a feature on his work both on and off the field, and a top 5 NCAA ranking from TSN! 

Christian Covington (VC'11)

If you were watching the NFL kick off, you may have seen Christian Covington start his first season with the Dallas Cowboys. Christian is one of 10 Canadians who made NFL rosters on the opening weekend of the league's 100th season! 

Daniel Curalli (VC'13)

Daniel starred as Davey (far left) this summer's Theatre Under The Stars production of Newsies! Daniel was in three VC musicals during his time at the school and in his graduating year played the role of Jesus in Godspell. He is now pursuing a career in the performing arts, while teaching in Coquitlam.

Sam Clare (VC'11)

In August, 2019, Sam signed with local pro-lacrosse team, the Vancouver Warriors, making him the professional lacrosse player in VC's history!
