One World One Heart

The 9th Annual One World One Heart Conference was a day to remember.

On this day, students from grade 8-12 gathered at Little Flower Academy to partake in this faith-based conference.

The One World One Heart team, led by Max Y. and Sarah F., welcomed the attendees, broke the ice, and introduced the guest speakers. The event began with a moving Skype interview from Uganda with the founder of "Love is the Answer" Catherine Koch and three of her wards, Joseph, Daniel and Gideon.

The breakout session showcased the Peru and Bumpin Bakery teams from Vancouver College. Bumpin Bakery is a Vancouver College volunteer driven organization that distributes coffee and muffins to people of the down town East Side in Vancouver. Members of Bumpin Bakery led the students in writing letters and making sandwiches for the downtown recipients.

Following the Bumpin Bakery-led activity, Mandy Thayil of REED held a serious yet inspiring session on Sexual Exploitation.

To cap the day off, an articulate local 12 year old, Capri Everitt from Blessed Sacrament School, performed on stage. Capri sang her way around the world last year to raise money and awareness for SOS Children's Villages. She has traveled to 80 different countries and has performed 80 different Anthems. She undoubtedly inspired the audience with her talent and her genuine heart for the less fortunate.
