Respect for Life
Vancouver College Pro-Life Club exists to enlighten hearts, educate minds, and embrace the human person so all may experience abundant life. We animate the fifth Essential Element of a Christian Brother education by celebrating the value and dignity of each person.
VC Pro-Life meets monthly at both the Middle School and Senior School level, planning events throughout the year. Initiatives include the Value Project, a school-wide media campaign that creatively communicates the message that every person has value. A leadership team attends a weekend planning retreat in the fall, before launching a “Value Week” to impact the school with a pro-life message.
Students sell Pro-Life Christmas Cards at the Mother’s Christmas Tea to raise money for pro-life causes. During the Advent season, the club also supports the residents of the Downtown Eastside through “The Giving Tree” that collects items for the Missionary Sisters of Charity, Mother Teresa’s order.
Leaders in the Middle and Senior School attend day-long leadership events, joining with students from every Catholic high school in the archdiocese. Movie night socials also allow students to meet fellow pro-life students from across the archdiocese. A full day “Value Conference” takes place in the spring, open to all students from our Catholic high schools, allowing them to be informed and inspired to further the pro-life cause.
The year culminates with the annual trip to Victoria for the March for Life, where students join thousands to peacefully witness to the value of every human life.
All students are welcome to join VC Pro-Life throughout the school year.
