Konrad Chrzastowski (VC'11)

Konrad Chrzastowski (VC’11) is a Project Geologist at Canterra Minerals Corp. He completed his BSc at McGill University specializing in Earth Sciences, and an MSc from the University of Toronto with a focus on Economic Geology. His work has taken him throughout Canada and the United States from the Northwest Territories to British Columbia, Quebec, Montana and most recently  Newfoundland.

Konrad finished his degree during a significant downturn in metals markets, forcing him to pivot and look for alternate experiences and use his network to leverage connections before landing a career in Mineral Exploration.

Now, Konrad flies to unexplored parts of the world, where he commutes by helicopter, ATV, and skidoo. Geology is a multidisciplinary field that includes mineral and oil exploration, field mapping, scientific research, 3-D computer modelling, and mining finance, many of which he has had a chance to do in his career so far.

To those interested in this industry, Konrad emphasizes the importance of networking.  Most geology positions and many jobs in general are filled through word of mouth and personal connections.

“VC has a great alumni network. Don’t be afraid to ask people for advice and talk to people that have the job that you want and see what they did to get there."
