Homecoming

We are excited to kick off our Centennial celebrations on Saturday, September 24 with alumni reunion breakfast, campus walkthroughs, Homecoming Game vs Vernon, and a VC100 party after the game in the courtyard with food trucks, music, various activities for kids, as well as purple and gold fireworks to end the night.

Join fellow alumni for a hearty alumni breakfast by registering HERE. Your ticket includes a breakfast buffet, admission to the Varsity Football Game, and one Beer Ticket at the Alumni Beer Garden (or a regular drink ticket if you are under 19).

2017 Homecoming

September 16th marked our Annual Homecoming Football Game against Lord Tweedsmuir on O’Hagan field.

Amongst the alumni attendance, the Class of 1957 and the Class of 1962 congregated to celebrate their 60th and 55th reunion, respectively. Alumni from some of our recent graduation classes also made an appearance at the game. Members of the Provincial Championship team and alumni from ‘11, ‘12, and ‘17 celebrated the festivity with their fellow classmates.

The Class of 1957 and the Class of 1962 both had prestigious football records in their graduating years. The 1961 football team had a perfect record of 9-0, while the 1956 varsity football had a victorious record of 7-1. These years were groundbreaking years in the history of Vancouver College Varsity Football.

Prior to the game, Leo Petty (VC’57), quarterback of 1956 football team, and Charlie Lipp (VC’62) walked onto the field as class representatives with President, John Nixon (VC’69). The kickoff began with a spirited cheer for the Fighting Irish. Even though the Irish toiled a bit at first, they took victory at 4th quarter with a win-leading 17-14.

Congratulations to all the football players and their coaches for their notable achievements and breakthroughs on the field. Go Irish!

2018 Homecoming

The Annual VC Homecoming Football Game took place on September 15, 2018 with the Fighting Irish playing against Belmont. The Irish was undefeated with the triumphant win of 41-0 led by the running of Daesaun Johnson (Grade 11) who rushed for 118 yard on 6 carries and the passing of Eric Zychlinski (Grade 12) who was 10/11 for 107 yards and two touchdowns. Congratulations to all the coaches and players who made history on the field!

2019 Homecoming

2021 Homecoming

Homecoming 2021 was a long-awaited gathering for the Vancouver College community. Students, parents, alumni, former staff, and friends came together to watch the Fighting Irish defeat STM 30-0.

In honour of John Nixon (VC'69), former president of Vancouver College, and Peter Fahrmann (VC'90), former president of the VC Alumni Association, the co-presidents of VCAA, on behalf of the alumni community, presented a VC alumni watch as an expression of gratitude for their service to the Vancouver College community.

Amongst the alumni in attendance, the Class of 1986 and the Class of 1996 had a breakfast reunion and a campus tour before the game. It was great to see alumni visit the school, many for the first time since the campus renewal, with their families and potential future VC graduates.

Congratulations to the football players and their coaches on their victory! Many thanks to all the staff members, parent volunteers and alumni volunteers for helping out and making Homecoming such a memorable event.
