The VCPA organizes and oversees four fantastic events throughout the school year. Not only are these events a great way for parents to connect with the VC community, but they also serve as major fundraisers for the school, and are also a fun way to complete those volunteer hours.

While we cannot get together as a community this year, we invite you to safely celebrate the year of the Ox with your family bubble on Friday, February 12 and take a look back at past events found below. We hope to celebrate together in 2022!
After thoughtful consultation and careful consideration of the concerns expressed by the families attending Vancouver College’s 2020 Lunar New Year Dinner, we have made the decision to cancel the event at this time. There has been much preparation in advance of this event and we wish to thank everyone involved especially our student volunteers, Kai Jin, Alex Lu, Edison Luke, and Jason Yu as well as Ms. Helen Gao, for their time and efforts in preparing presentations for the evening’s program.
Vancouver College has opened up the greatest chapter in my life so far.
I came to VC in Grade 9, which is comparably later than most students. When I first stepped into Vancouver College, I did not know what to expect. I was scared to have to figure life out in a totally new environment. However, my fears were immediately dispelled ... VC and its teachers welcomed me with open arms and filled my life with so many different opportunities.
These experiences have transformed me into a well-rounded person - a man with a better understanding of himself. I knew getting on a sports team would be a challenge considering VC’s reputation as a sports power-house so I was grateful when I was given the chance to be the team manager of basketball team from grade 9 to now. It was a very rewarding experience and a great way to enjoy my favorite sport. Since then, I have found my way to so many other activities and clubs such as the Business Club, Environment Club, a Math team and so on, allowing me to learn more about myself including my passions in life.
VC taught me faith-based values that are now ingrained in me and will always be a part of my life. These values, such as the importance of inclusivity and helping those in need, have inspired me to volunteer with Bumpin Bakery and the Union Gospel Mission, teaching me to value everyone and to share my gifts and blessings with others.
To me, VC is all about our brotherhood. At the Encounter Retreat that I went on in January, I learned how important my friendships are here at VC. My classmates are more than just friends; they are my brothers. We sit next to each other in classes, we connect with each other through sports, we encourage each other in our academics, and we help each other in our leadership roles. This brotherhood is an invisible force that sustains me and it is a bond that will tie us together in life now and always.
I am truly honored to be a part of the VC community and when I graduate in June, I know I will be leaving here a better man. I could not be more grateful for all the opportunities that I received at Vancouver College and the things that I was able to achieve during my time here. Through successes and challenges in these past four years, I have felt joy, built friendships, gained interests, learned values, and created memories that I will cherish forever.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year celebration, I wish you all a happy and prosperous new year, may you have good health and good fortune throughout the year.
The 2018 Lunar New Year Dinner Celebration was a hit - tickets sold out quickly and all enjoyed the delicious ten-course meals! Special thanks to Joshua Laberge (Grade 12) for the sincere recount on his experiences at VC, Jonathan Song (Grade 11) for the bilingual prayer, JiJin Yue (VC Parent) for his heartfelt expression of gratitude towards the VC community, Helen Gao and Bin Wu (VC Parents) for the translations, and VC staff team for all the work dedicated to this event. The 2018 Lunar New Year Dinner would not have been made possible without you.
We'll see you next year!
Mayfair is one of Vancouver College’s major fund-raising and community building activities of the year. Our entire campus is transformed into an “old-fashioned spring fair”, updated to include fun-filled family activities for parents, children and grandparents alike. Each year we welcome current and past students, alumni, friends and family of VC and potential parents like you to come join us for a day of fun, good eats and opportunities to make new friends and cherished family memories.
Come experience Irish Pride and support the age-old tradition of the Vancouver College Mayfair!
